Café De Duivel (The Devil in English) first started in October 1992. The owner and his bartenders were and still are big fans of hip-hop. They decided that that was the music they were going to play. Whitout realizing how many people were missing a place like this in Amsterdam, "De Duivel" became an instant success.

Because of this, many famous rap artists have visited the bar. Artists like Cypress Hill, Funkdoobiest, The Roots, Gangstar, Craig Mack and Ghost Face Killah were all very content customers drinking beer and smoking fat joints. In the meantime listening to De Duivel's d.j.'s spinning the very best in hip-hop and funk. Lately we don't just merely spin hip-hop, but we also play a lot of original rare grooves.
